I’m currently using the HiBy R4, which features a customized Android 12 OS designed for system-wide bit-perfect audio. However, Roon ARC still seems to be capping output at 48kHz.
It’s frustrating to have high-performance DAP hardware treated like a standard smartphone by the app code. Are there plans to allow ARC to hook into these specialized internal DAC drivers, or is a ‘Bit-Perfect Internal’ mode on the roadmap for dedicated Android audio players?"
Thanks in advance

Roon ARC will use Andoid Audio by default, whick down samples to 48 kHz, so Roon will do the conversion.
However, there is a beta driver under Settings. Scroll all the way to Enable USB driver, and test. Of course, the HiBy may use some proprietary method of communicating with the internal DAC, so this may not work.
I’ve also got the R4, and I accepted that I just won’t use Roon on it. I use USB Audio Player Pro and (occasionally) the Tidal app. The Built in Hiby player had issues with gapless playback. It kind of sucks to have to manage the library separately, but fortunately, my FLAC metadata tags were in pretty good shape beforehand. At least I can use a file explorer to copy files over the network to the SD card, so I don’t have to ever take it out.
