Bypassing 48/24 limitation through lineout (COAX)

Currently I am using an iBasso D16 DAC/AMP in the below setup:

A great device that sounds just perfect, but not Roon Ready or testet. But that is ok

If Roon app and ARC app would work without limitation (48/24) on a DAP than this would be a very nice option. But that is not the case.

But is there a way of bypassing this limitation? If one would use lineout on a DAP (COAX) and connect it with iBasso D16 - just using the DAP as transport - would that bypass the limitation?

I can’t test it as I don’t have a DAP

No that won’t work as it’s the device it’s on that determines how Roon or Arc behave. Roon will have no idea an external device is connected as the device won’t feed it back and coax is one way communication only this being out.

Look at all RR devices with DACs they all work based on their internal specs and not external devices attached to them and a big chunk of them have no idea about any DAC that might be connected on any port not just coax. Blusound is a prime example of this. Roons signal path only shows internal DAC so it will only send what this can support.

Pure Roon Ready Bridges however that use USB can feedback as they don’t have an internal DAC so designed differently with RAAT (although not all) and often will show the ongoing DAC as attached in Roon and it will use it specs. But this isn’t standard and I think they have to add it. FiiO SR11 doesn’t show a connected dac nor does Roon show the specs of this DAC.

If the DAP is android, and you’re streaming (connecting) to another device, would the beta driver option work for you? Or have you tried this already? Of course, this only supports USB, but other external outputs may be connected to the USB interface on the inside.
