I didn’t find any information on if crossfeed can cause clipping on material that is normalized to 0dbfs or very close to it? Is there some negative pre-gain baked into the implementation that makes sure that clipping doesn’t happen?
I interpret this picture so that the net effect would boost total loudness:
However in these pictures it looks like the original is constantly above the modified one:
My intuition says that the Roon implementation has considered this and one doesn’t need to worry about headroom when using crossfeed, but wanted to double check. I also have listened to loud tracks with clipping indicator on (and 0db headroom) and it hasn’t triggered yet.
