Can WORK/PART be made to function when the performance is split

Scenario:

Track 1. Beethoven op. 54: 1.
Track 2. Mozart something
Track 3. Beethoven op. 54: 2.

It would be logical to be able to make WORK/PART and WORKID group 1 and 3 as a single performance. But this appears not to be the case.

Any chance this could be rectified?
