1). When browsing Artists, can the pictures of the artists be removed? It takes forever to scroll through artists. The pictures have no value to me. Is there a setting where I can scroll through a list of names without having the pictures slow down the process?
2). Can the browse by artist feature be replaced with browse by album artist? I don’t need to wade through all of the names of collaborators that are associated with the primary album artists.
Thanks for the response. I will have to learn what the distinction is between primary and album artist. I have been retagging info in dbPoweramp and focusing on album artist and artist. There doesn’t seem to be an option to label primary artist.
Tags are limited, but Roon’s metadata supports it.
When Roon gets metadata automatically, it usually shows both.
I also edit metadata sometimes, to get the Primary artists to be the same as was printed on the album cover.
In this case, Anouar Brahem is the Album Artist, the album is sorted under his name. But the other three were listed on the cover.
In Roon, they are listed on separate lines.
The Primary Artists are meaningful to me, I know this guys, and often click directly on one of them to see other music.
The Primary Artists are also included in the slideshow on the Now Playing page (and the Display on another screen).
Also very useful for classical: here they chose to list the album under Hélène Grimaud (Album Artist) but the director and orchestra are also listed.
Of course, sometimes i disagre with the publisher. I never want Whosis Trio — the fact that there are three of them isn’t that significant, I list the members instead.
Thanks for that information. That was helpful. I often have problems with Roon dropping some of the songs from an album because it associates the song with “Unknown Artist”. I am not sure where they are getting Unknown Artist from but it seems to screw things up.
P.S. I also have that Anouhar Brahem album - it is a great one
