Can't play songs by tags easily as playlists

Hi,

I explain.

I have tagged many songs (not albums, songs), to a specific tag.

Now I go to “Tags” and then I go to “Play All”… nope… it will only play ONE song of the list and even random, not the first, it will select ramdomly!

So, I need to select ONE BY ONE the songs tagged and the Play selected works.

Where exactly are you pressing Play All?

There are two primary differences between Playlists and Tags:

  • Playlists contain tracks, while Tags can contain albums, artists, compositions, performances, genres, etc
  • Playlists have an explicit order, while tags are more of a container – there is no order to their contents, so they can only be shuffled

Say I make a Tag called “Test” with 3 tracks:

When I press Play Tag on my new “Test” tag, Roon treats it just like we treat other content that has no clear order (such as playing an Artist or Genre) – it’s shuffled in the Queue:

If you press tracks and then tags (not directly tags) Roon will treat tags as tracks.

I dont mind if i cannot sort an order as I do in the playlist, I will be very happy if I can run a queue directly from a tag as I do with playlist. Just in alphabetical order (not shuffled).

Ps: in your test i didnt understand if roon has queue ALL the three tags or just one (like happen badly to me).

I agree with the confusion. It’s hard to sometimes decide tags or playlists. I now look at tags as a search engine / retrieval methodology and playlists what I actually listen to/play from… Tags are more to retrieval to play one offs or build playlists from? Still learning how to implement. Both are extremely useful and powerful. It’s more of a disconnect of how I implement them.
