Chord DAC behind Bleusound NODE streamer

Hi, folks. I have a Bluesound NODE streamer connected to Chord Qutest DAC over USB. The NODE has it’s own DAC, but being connected to Chord via the USB, I’m bypassing it.

Roon recognizes Bluesound NODE just fine (it’s Roon Ready afterall), however, I want Roon to see Chord, and configure Roon for Chord DAC rather than the NODE.

Possible?

USB in Bluesound NODE is only input and not output.

You can bypass it only via coax or optical outputs.

Originally yes, but with the latest software upgrade, one can configure USB port as an output to external DAC, which I did. And it works, except Roon thinks it’s talking to NODE, while in this case NODE is simply a streaming bridge to Chord DAC.

NODE has it’s own DAC, as I said, which I am bypassing, however, because Roon thinks it’s talking to NODE’s DAC rather than the bridge to Chord DAC, the Device Setup parameters are for NODE rather than Chord, including max bit rate, max PCM sample rate, etc.

I’m looking for the way to setup NODE as a bridge to Chord Qutest DAC.

Really? I didn’t know that.

In that case, I have no clue.

If you have the node set to use external DAC in the BluOS settings then is should output regardless, but it’s likely this device isn’t telling Roon it’s doing so. I imagine they will need to work with Roon to update how it feeds back to RAAT as it won’t have been built for that initially as they only supported Spdif.

@Simon_Arnold3, I think you’re right. I hope Bluesound eventually adds Roon Bridge software component to the NODE, so it can be configured and recognized as such.
