I’m traveling, so no access to my Roon system to experiment, but I seem to recall one can merge different Composer records in Roon. However, the one solution for classical metadata that has worked best for me is to set ID3 tags to be exactly like they are in Allmusic.com for albums and boxsets that have failed identification, including WORK and PART tags. Note also that the only way to be sure that edited ID3 tags are seen by Roon is to move the relevant albums from the watched folder(s), then clean the library, then move back the edited albums, and rescan the watched folders. Since this is a pain, I’ve tended to do it in batches on rainy weekends

Thanks, Mike. I’ll look into this. What I don’t like at all is the maintenance effort.
For the time being I have now simply fixed the Roon tags of the questionable album and the compositions are now identified correctly.

I am starting to get a feel for what Roon can do and what it cannot. Thanks to all of you for the help.
