I notice frequently while listening to Daily Mixes that the song being played is an MP3 out of my library from the time when I ripped my CD’s and disk space was expensive.
However I have the album with that song on in my favorites as MQA from Tidal.
Why is Roon not selecting the highest quality format available? It does so when playing music which is not in my library or favorites, so I would expect the same treatment even if the song is in my library at lower format.
Thanks’ I’ll verify this. It might mean that I’ll have to manually change all “primary versions”, even for the albums I never did this for.
I would prefer something in the settings to override this, so everyone could be happy.
This being said, I went back to he queue from the Daily Mix and one of the songs it played in MP3 was “Someone, Somewhere in Summertime” from “New Gold Dream / Simple Minds”. But I have this album’s Primary Version in FLAC from Tidal. My Streaming Content Preferences are “Prefer MQA over anything else”.
I would assume that a good algorithm first composes the mix and then select the songs with best format first. That way the library versions would not be excluded.
And to avoid that Roon makes this choice for us, what would lead to even more discussion, it would be fantastic if Roon lists the formats available and let the user put them in his preferred order.
