Allow the user to set a default playback zone in any remote that is active when the remote app is opened.
Once every week or two, I open Roon, select something to play, and then start cursing at the pop-up stating that it may take a moment to start up my big amplifiers–when what I really wanted were the always-on speakers that I use 90 percent of the time. So then I get to wait for the big ones to start up, turn them off again, switch the active zone to the one that I actually wanted, and start over.
When I’m using my iPhone, for example, I almost always want to control the speakers in our living room, not the big system in the listening room–even if I might use my phone for that every once in a while. Being able to set a default zone match my expectations much better than whatever zone I happened to last access from a particular device.
I think you will get just as many people that want Roon to remember the last controlled zone.
So we would also need the option to not have the remote go to the “default” like you are asking.
The other question would be, when would the remote change to the default? Time based (goes to default after x minutes) or Roon remote startup/shutdown based (goes to default when remote is first started)?
