Does this mean that Roon is always running of my iMac even if I “quit Roon”

I have Roon with the core running on my Apple iMac wit the M1 chip. I have an external hard drive connected to the iMac. I used think that I had to open Roon on the iMac and turn on there hard drive to access my files by using the Roon remote app. But I have just noticed that when I open my Roon app on my iPhone or iPad, it brings up the Roon interface and I am able to play all my files even though I have not opened Roon on my iMac, and if I do have Roon open on the iMac, I Roon continues to work even after I have closed Roon buy clicking on “Quit Roon”.

Does this mean that Roon is always running of my iMac even if I “quit Roon” or does out mean that the the remote apps on my iPhone and iPad can access the Roon core on my iMac even if Roon is not open and running on the iMac? Just curious.

Yes, the Roon GUI is closed but Roon Server continues to run in the background.

If you take a look in your menu bar you’ll find the roon jellyfish. If you click on it, you’ll probably find that it’s set to ‘Launch at startup?’, as shown below:
