Downsampling on Roon Ready Device

Hi, I’m presently using Roon for a Roon Ready device (a Hegel amplifier), and it appears that the signal is being downsampled for 24-bit master quality files. I can’t tell if this is because it is relying on Airplay or because I have failed to check some box or other in my setup. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Can you post a screen shot of your Signal Path so we can get a better idea of the issue. Some things to consider, in the signal path if you see anything listed after the endpoint device, then that is Roon reporting what the endpoint is doing to the signal.

This matters because some Hegel amps will resample everything to a specific sampling rate. For example,

All the digital inputs on the H190 (and H95, H120) are re-sampled to 105.47kHz.

So, Roon will report this resampling in the Signal Path but it is being done by the amp.

It‘s because you selected the Hegel via Airplay.
Go to Settings - Audio, look for it in the Roon Ready section, activate that option instead and have fun!

Welcome to the community David.

I don’t have a Hegel H190, so I cannot check myself, but I suspect that there are multiple entries for the device under Settings > Audio.
Can you double check that you have enabled the one under the “Roon Ready” section, and not one that would be under “Roon Tested” or “Other network devices section”?

Many thanks. Yes you’re correct. It’s listed under Roon Tested. But I don’t see a Roon Ready section, even though it should be a Roon Ready Device. Advice?

Does it need to be activated in the Hegel settings?

Or, are you on the firmware version from Hegel.which had the roon ready update?

I do assume you are not on the correct firmware for your amp.

Many thanks – in fact it occurred to me to try doing the update again (it doesn’t seem to have worked the first time), and now it appears as Roon Ready. Thanks again.
