EAC3 and TrueHD decode support please

I know there is a request for Atmos support already. But I would even be happy for now to just have Roon decode (E)AC3 and TrueHD for 5.1 and 7.1 playback.

For years, software like JRiver already can handle these formats including bitstreaming. Furthermore, they’re already available in ffmpeg.

Even without Atmos decoding, this will allow users with these kinds of codec types (as .M4A or .MKA containers for example) to play the music with ReplayGain, awaiting the day when bitstreaming passthrough of Atmos is available.

Great that Roon can already handle 5.1/7.1 FLAC and 5.1 AAC quite well (not sure if 7.1 AAC supported). I’ve enjoyed using Roon given its powerful features and wide support of hardware, how about expanding support for the software content, Roon? At least a level of support for those of us with EAC3 and TrueHD +/- Atmos content typically ripped from Bluray over the years?

Compared to other features, this should not be hard to implement since already ffmpeg is used to decode MP3/AAC in ROCK!

Thanks for the consideration…

Ffmpeg is only used on Linux it relies on Os decoding and libflac for the others so what about Windows and Mac users do they decode without the need of a licensed decoder?
