Early Access: RoonBridge #1684 .NET10 update is live

Over the past several months, we’ve been modernizing the technology foundation that powers Roon.

This work has happened gradually across Roon Server, our desktop applications, Roon Remote for iOS and Android, and now it’s the Roon Bridge’s turn. We are happy to announce that RoonBridge on all platforms is now running on .NET10.

Windows

Windows users are not affected by the new macOS and Linux compatibility requirements. RoonBridge includes all the components it needs during installation.

MacOS

MacOS machines now require macOS 12 in order to run RoonBridge. If your Mac is running macOS 12 or later, no action is required.

If it is running an earlier version, check whether Apple offers a supported system update for your Mac. If the computer cannot be updated, you will need to move Roon or Roon Bridge to a supported device to continue receiving future updates.

Linux

The .NET 10 version of Roon Bridge requires the following dependencies (they are the same as for the latest RoonServer version)

  • glibc 2.27 or later

  • OpenSSL 1.1.1 or later

Most modern Linux distributions already meet these requirements. Older Linux installations/distributions may not.

If you are unsure, you can check your system with the following commands in your terminal on the machine running RoonBridge:

  • ldd --version
  • openssl version

Your feedback is crucial in refining these updates, so don’t hesitate to share your findings!
