Early Access: RoonOS (Nucleus/ROCK) #286 is live!

We’re excited to share another Early Access build of RoonOS 3.0. This is the final Early Access release, containing the last batch of changes before RoonOS 3.0 goes live in production; this cycle focused on polish and reliability, guided by your feedback from recent builds. You’ll find improvements to USB storage, a smoother update from RoonOS 2.x, and more dependable updates and reinstalls.

What’s new?

Most of this cycle’s work went into USB drives. Check and Repair now shows progress for FAT, NTFS and exFAT drives, and you can cancel a long check. If a repair can’t fix a drive, RoonOS now tells you instead of reporting success. We also fixed cases where a slow drive held up other storage actions, and where a healthy drive showed as failed or under a duplicate name.

Some of you saw Roon Server fail to start on the first boot after updating from RoonOS 2.1, for example on devices with a static IP address. We fixed this. On 4K TVs, the HDMI display now runs at 1080p, which leaves more memory for Roon Server. We also fixed File Sharing connections after a Tailscale account change, and incomplete CD rips that reported success.
