EarlyAccess: Roon 2.0 Build 1405 and ARC Build 264 is Live!

Hello Everyone,

In this release, we’ve focused on improving the in-car experience when using ARC. We’ve fixed a few critical bugs related to image loading in Android Auto and Carplay and updated the UI in both to help you find more content quickly and access more information in browsers.

Perhaps the most notable improvement in ARC is the introduction of voice search in the car. Now you can play tracks, albums, genres, and playlists completely hands-free.

For Android, to use ARC with Google Assistant in the car, first ensure you don’t have another application set as your default music app. Go to Settings > Assistant Settings > Music, and select “No default option.” After that, connect your phone to your car, and you’ll see a voice activation button on the screen. Make sure the ARC app is open and visible in the Android Auto controls.

For iOS, when you’re in Carplay, you can select the “Search” tab and press the Siri card at the top of the page. Alternatively, you can use Siri as normal (“Hey Siri”), but be sure to explicitly ask her to “play X in Roon ARC.” After being explicit for a while, Siri should learn and make ARC the default for music operations.

On the Roon side, we’ve addressed a couple of longstanding issues related to clients that could cause freezing or crashing under certain conditions. This fix should provide a more stable experience across different platforms.

Give it a try and let us know what you think

Thank you for your continued support,
The Team at Roon Labs
