You mean the guy who got a Grammy nomination for his writing on music ?

Welcome Nima!
I think you are going to fit in nicely here.

Thank you Scott.

Grammy is a scam… I think :slightly_smiling_face: same as the Academy Awards. Anyway I’m not a Jarrett fan, but that is a very short review!

Not judging here (that or the quality of the criticism datasources, even though I do agree that “This one’s for the Children is a genuinely strong holiday song that deserved to be the Top Ten hit it was”, and that Hangin’ Tough was “packed with delectable pop singles of all shades (…) from the rebellious singalong title track to the (…) delectable and underrated R&B ballad that introduced them (i.e, the New Kids On The Block)”)

Or if @xxx is to be believed, a case of a reviewer being appropriately succinct…

Not to mention there is a mismatch between the date mentioned in the review and the release date in the Roon metadata.

Yep, I’ve merged your post into the existing topic.

Again another small disappointment with Roon that I can’t add or edit the review field, it would be so useful!

So today I got a bunch of non-label nature recordings that I love. I listen to these kinds of nature recordings during the night, and many days while I work. Especially good since we are locked down for Covid here. On a good system they really bring you into the environment. There is a lot of information about location, animals, birdsong etc. that is really useful to see when you listen to the album. So I am making a page of this info in Photoshop, and I will put it into the artwork folder for each album. Beautifully, they provide many location photos, and the birds etc. to download, so those are also going into the artwork folder.

It’s 2021, Still can’t write my own review for the album.

I am also very interested in adding my own album descriptions or reviews. I am a collector of game music and most of it is too niche to be included in the major databases that Roon seems to use. Dedicating time and effort to my collection is what brought me to Roon in the first place. Without album descriptions or in-depth reviews, Roon can’t replace my physical collection.
Dear Roon team, please reconsider adding this feature.

I have been asking for this for sometime now, hopefully it will get implemented sooner rather than later.

Not as long as the 6 years I’ve been asking for it :joy: :scream:

Haha just slightly longer than me . Oh well one day it may became an option to add it in.

Here we are another year later - and still no ability to add/edit reviews or album notes (outside a pdf).

Any news on this one? There are a lot of “international” (i.e. non-english) releases out there with nice descriptions readily available at different sources, but unknown to Roon’s Valence. Allowing us to copy/paste own album descriptions would be really handy.

Sorry if the following suggestion has been made before.

Instead of messing with the existing “Reviews” section which may interfere with how it works, how about a more “out-of-the-box” solution, literally, ie. creating another field / section for users to enter custom text? Some ideas on how it can be called:

  • Notes
  • Personal Notes
  • User Notes
  • Text
  • Comments
  • Custom Text
  • Custom Comments

Hope this is more do-able than changing how the existing “Reviews” field functions.

Roon team, you guys must be busy with many “secret weapons”to be released, but care to drop in and comment if this request is a possibility?

Hi RoonFan,

Roon doesn’t comment directly on potential upcoming features unless they are nearly done or on early testing.

I’ve linked post from Danny upthread that is the last official word on the subject.

And we’re here another year later…8 years waiting now.

Yes, the Roon team don’t chip in to feature request threads like they used to, which is a real shame. I agree with @Rantanplanary above that the lack of clarity in the development plan is a mistake. I also agree with @RoonFan - adding another field to enter custom text would seem like a straightforward thing to do which would probably address this issue nicely, if implemented well.

There are various other threads on the subject by the way. Could do with merging votes. For example -
