Simply, we need to be able to find a track in history, beit by date when it was played, track, artist, or album.
Your feature to export to Excel is broken, so currently there is no way to search the history.
I have 30,000+ songs in my history!
I’m not sure if you can do it in one step due to the size, but, you can add to a Playlist from History and then export the Playlist to Excel.
Export to Excel is greyed out for me always, I tried different playlist sizes. That feature is fully broken, not according to just me.
I just went and selected all in my History, added it to a new Playlist. Went to the Playlist and exported the Playlist to Excel. I wouldn’t have suggested it if I hadn’t just done it.
Exporting directly from History is greyed out for me as well. However, that was not what I was suggesting. If it is not working for you, then something else is also happening that has nothing to do with Exporting from the History screen.
So you are saying that if you select some albums on the album screen, you don’t get an Export option like this…

First of all, thank you very much for that idea to make a playlist then export it, that’s brilliant. I can finally explore/look for things I tried/analyze/etc. this massive treasure, over 100 days and nights of continuous cumulative music listening via Roon. And I found what I was looking for last night immediately.
Secondly, you are correct, when I select any number of track from the history, including all of it, the second and third option (Soundiiz and Excel) are greyed out. Your moderator Geoff said he has the same problem.

Glad to be of some help. I too have been lobbying for Focus/Searching/Filtering of the History screen since…2015 I think.
I once had left an album in repeat for weeks when I went on vacation. Years later I kept wondering why Roon only suggested this one artist over and over and over again. I then decided to look through history and it was a chore to identify and then remove all those plays. So, I understand the pain.

When viewing History, it would be super-useful to be able to search and/or filter entries by keyword.
I love the history page that I often use after Listening sessions with others. I totally miss a search function on the History page to quickly find that track among the 100.000 tracks played

Sat here on our deck having a glass of wine (or three) and watching videos of one of old Jack Russell Terriers making a fool of himself. Wait, what’s that music playing in the background?
So, I thought is there a way that Roon could track music you played in a certain year or even month so you could do a look back and, maybe relive old memories?
New feature or am I already missing something?

Have you tried History, I can see from 2018?
I suspected the OP was aware of that feature and wanted a UI to filter it…
History is okay but it would be nice to type in a year or even an exact date to retrieve the information.

I’ve merged your Feature Suggestion into the existing request for better handling of Roon’s History.
Unfortunately, @Rugby 's workaround of saving History to a Playlist, and then exporting the Playlist to Excel will only give you a full list of what tracks you have played - it won’t give you any information of when you played them… Sigh.
Well, in a way, it does. The actual Date information isn’t saved, BUT, the order of the Files are latest played to oldest played.
Not when I tried it - the spreadsheet is ordered by Artist name for me…
