Hello @Ian_Mason ,

That error indicated that Roon wasn’t able to configure ARC via UPnP properly. Can you try to set up a manual port forward rule in the router (same one as you have configured in Roon Settings → ARC) and check to see if that works?

Am I being dim? Help.

Hi @Ian_Mason,
This article talks about the manual port forwarding process. Is there something you need clarification on?

Been through all of that, nothing makes any difference. I’ve also tried the following router settings. Firewall OFF, Active DMZ, UPNP on/off. And all combinations of. No resolution. This ia all since a move to fibre to premises and a new router which I can’t fathom.

Current error:

{
“ipv4_connectivity”: {“status”:“NetworkError”,“status_code”:504,“error”:“error: Error: ETIMEDOUT, response code: undefined, body: undefined connected? undefined”},
“external_ip”: {“actual_external_ip”:“185.aaa.bbb.ggg”,“actual_external_ipv6”:“null”,“router_external_ip”:“null”},
“natpmp_autoconfig”: {“status”:“NotFound”},
“upnp_autoconfig”: {“server_ip”:“192.168.1.1”,“found_upnp”:true,“error”:“<s:Envelope xmlns:s="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/\” s:encodingStyle="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/\“><s:Body><s:Fault>s:ClientUPnPError<UPnPError xmlns="urn:schemas-upnp-org:control-1-0">501ActionFailed</s:Fault></s:Body></s:Envelope>”}
}

Sorry that should read ACTIVATED DMZ, no difference.

Don’t do this.

Hi @Ian_Mason,

Please be sure RoonServer is behind the DMZ and restore the default security settings on the ISP router. You don’t want to expose this machine to the internet without any protection.

Instead, please review these steps, which provide a secure alternative for when port forwarding fails to automatically configure on a RoonServer machine like yours:
