Hi All,
I’m trying to install Roon server on my new Qnap TS-AI642. But I have errors for both legacy and early access version. Can you please help?
Regards,
Giuseppe
This has an ARM processor. The specs say:
8-core ARM Cortex 64-bit Processor ( 4-core Cortex-A76 2.2 GHz + 4-core Cortex-A55 1.8 GHz )
Roon Server , however, requires an x86 Intel or AMD CPU:
Which NAS devices are supported?
Most QNAP, Synology, and ASUSTOR devices with a 64-bit x86 CPU, like Intel or AMD, and at least 2GB RAM are supported. We strongly recommend 4GB of RAM and an SSD for the Roon databases. Your music files can be on spinning disks, but ideally the Roon database should be on an SSD. This one optimization can provide the single biggest improvement to Roon’s performance and user experience.
I had never noticed this limitation before, considering that the Apple platform is arm64. A NAS like this would be perfectly capable of running Roon Server at full power. I hope a port can be made someday. Anyway, my desire was just to test it with the internal streamer of the Mola Mola Tambaqui, which unfortunately only supports Roon.
macOS and the Apple Silicon platform isn’t the same as whatever the NAS uses, even though both run on an ARM CPU. Roon provides ARM binaries of Roon and Roon Server for macOS but not for other platforms.

I did, thanks.
