Ffmpeg for rock?

Hi,

what is the right version for ffmpeg?

The link in this tutorial (https://kb.roonlabs.com/Roon_OS_Missing_Codecs#How_To_Add_Codecs_Step_By_Step) for the package ffmpeg-git-64bit-static.tar.xz

isnt’ valid anymore.

I tried to copy the amd64 version to the share but ROCK didn’t recognize that package.

Best regards
Bene

I think the name has been changed. See this post:

Hello @Su_und_Bene_Kaless,

Thanks for contacting us regarding this issue and thanks @Geoff_Coupe for pointing me to the new download location, I have gone ahead and updated that KB doc. Please let me know if the instructions work now!

Thanks,
Noris

Hello,

unfortunatelly not. I extracted the tarball, and copied only the ffmpeg file to the /Data/Codecs directory.

After visiting the website of the ROCK-Appliance there is only the message “Missing Codecs” available. Rebooting the appliance doesn’t work either.

Best regards
Bene

Hello @Su_und_Bene_Kaless,

I just tried following the updated link I posted on our tutorial page (https://kb.roonlabs.com/Roon_OS_Missing_Codecs#How_To_Add_Codecs_Step_By_Step) and the ffmpeg file there is working as expected for me. What program are you extracting the archive with? I have sometimes seen the need to use 7zip to extract it to properly work.

Thanks,
Noris

Ok, It is working for me also.

I tried it to extract the package with tar under Linux. Extracted with 7-Zip in Windows 10 it worked as expected. Thanks.

Glad to hear that @Su_und_Bene_Kaless!
Thanks again for contacting support and hope you have a great Roon experience :headphones:
