Hi community!
I have a dedicated laptop (i5 intel core 256 gb ssd, 16 gb ram) that I use for the only purpose of hosting a roon server, my roon endpoint is a Wiim Ultra with a Schiit Bifrost 2/64 as my external dac paired with the Lyr +,
Would it make a real sound improvement to use Fidelizer audio or audiophile optimizer on my dedicated laptop ?
What are your toughts ?
It seems to be the logical answer
I know it is a slippery subjet and opinions can be strong about it. I have heard great things about what Fidelizer Audio can do but it was not exactly with kind of setup…
Unless you are running on a Commodore 64, there isn’t anything it can do, other than stopping processes that do not need stopping, and doing some random changes that at best don’t hurt.
I’ve used Audiophile Optimizer for many years, most recently on my current Windows Server 2019 Roon server (a CAPS Twenty build). @jussi_laako suggested that I might squeeze a bit more processing power for HQP (5.1 DSF multichannel with Audiolense convolution filters scaled to DSD64 is very processor and GPU intensive) by turning off Audiophile Optimizer.
In my experience now, the server sans AO achieves nothing I can tell as different or better for HQP than with AO engaged. I still can’t get to multichannel DSD128 and can’t do DSD64 with most of the modulators. At the same time, I notice no sonic difference with AO disengaged. So, I’ve left AO off nowadays.
