Hi all,
Looking for a competent all-in-one desktop solution (limited space) to replace my FiiO Q7. I consider buying the new FiiO K17.
Anyone who owns this device willing to share experience/advice?
Thanks!
Hi all,
Looking for a competent all-in-one desktop solution (limited space) to replace my FiiO Q7. I consider buying the new FiiO K17.
Anyone who owns this device willing to share experience/advice?
Thanks!
I have had mine just over a week, and I’m using it with my HE1000se, 660s2 and DT1990 Pro.
Coming from a Cord Mojo 2 , the K17 has a more lively presentation, and possibly a little more detail with the HE1000se. Soundstage is maybe not quite as wide as the Mojo 2, its more focused on the vocals front and centre, but there is plenty of detail to hear in the soundstage.
It is very musical and quite addictive to listen to.
Also loads of option for tuning with EQ and Filters.
Roon integration works well, however I have run into a nasty bug.
When I selected Roon radio it put the streaming option of the unit into a boot loop.
I have had to reset the k17 and reinstall Roon to get it to stop crashing .
So be aware there are a few quirks with it atm as it’s rather new.
Thanks a lot for sharing.
If I were you I’d inform FiiO about the ROON bug.
Happy to share, I have made a post on Fiio’s forums , so lets hope it get attention and a fixed soon. It has made me a little scared to go clicking things in roon
Today I ordered the K17. It will arrive in about 1 week…
I’m sure you will enjoy it, let me know what you think once you get it !
Their software isn’t great, reason why I sent back the S15 too buggy.
It’s sadly it’s a constant problem with audio gear, the Android app for Cord Poly is crashing constantly atm for me, rendering it useless as I can’t set it up for roon without it.
Well I have to say I’m really impressed, sound wise and feature wise.
I tried out USB to PC, Streaming ROON Qobuz /Tidal and Bluetooth via Samsung S22.
It provides a full musical still detailed sound with all my headphones (Empy2, HD800s, HEKS)
Haven’t tried my IEM’s yet.
I think price/quality it is an outstanding device.
To conclude: very satisfied with the K17, it’s a perfect all-rounder. So far it meets all my needs.
Good to know you have experienced the same quality’s from the K17
It’s a great sounding device for the money.
Now I have the same issue as you had after selecting ROON Radio.
Do I need to reinstall Roon completely?
Because it gives me 2 options to uninstall following components:
Thank you!
I had a feeling you be tempted to try that
I found just reinstalling roon worked to clear the boot loop in the end.
I have just had an update on my K17 to Soc: v199 MCU:88
I tested the radio to see if it fixed the problem but it hasn’t , however now if you click play on an album as it reboots, it stops the boot loop.
The problem is that Roon doesn’t seem to recognise the K17 anymore thus I can’t stop the boot loop.
That is how it was for me, it doesn’t show up in Roon while in boot loop.
Reinstall Roon and reset all on the k17 should stop it.
Nope, I’ve tried everything. Uninstalled/reinstalled Roon; Factory reset K17.
Roon recognises the K17 for about a second and that’s it. During that one second the Roon Radio logo appears on the K17 display then the boot loop starts all over again
Ok that is strange, every time I have reinstalled Roon it has fixed the problem for me.
I get the feeling the problem is on the Roon side, because if you reset the unit it shouldn’t retain anything. I had the problem remain after a factory reset , only reinstalling Roon helped to fix the problem after that.
What firmware are you on out of interest ?
The latest one, released 2 days ago: SOC: V 199; MCU: V 87
Your microcontroller version doesn’t seem to match mine which is odd.
I can only suggest you try reset the K17 fully, remove Roon totally, reboot and
reinstall again.
Might be worth taking this to Roon tech support? possible they have a K17 unit they can recreate this on.
V 199 was released on Friday, I guess you still have the previous version (V 193)
I removed/reinstalled Roon on all my devices; did a full factory reset of the K17.
Informed FiiO about the matter, tomorrow Roon tech support.
Thank you!
I had the update Friday too, I’m on SOC:V199 MCU:88
