Fiio M11Plus ESS and M11S with Roon Ready is fanatasic!

Correct. While the pin is just a normal 3.5mm (I believe), the hole in the ear cup is rather small and requires a specific connector. PITA, as they say.

Don’t get to anxious about the T5 since I just happen to love the house sound of Beyerdynamic. You may not share my feelings about the T5. At the very least they are worth a listen.

Do the “balanced” cables you have for your T5p or your Focal have two or three conductors on each headphone connector?

Some have two and others have three. doesn’t seem to make any difference since they work. i.e. the music plays and sounds fine. Someone needs to explain all this to me. :astonished:

Hmm. I may already have a balanced cable that would work with these.

I use this cable with my M17 & Beyer T5’s:

ABSOLUTELY SUPERB COMBO

Same as Meze which is a pain they use extraslim 3.5mm fittings.

Just confirming that the cables I use for the Beyerdynamic T5p, with those extra slim 3.5mm jacks, work with my Meze 99 Noir headphones.

I use Mezes own balanced cable as it was easier at the time but I would prefer a thicker more robust cable .

I’m very tempted.

I hoped that the after-market balanced cable I use with my Focal Clear Mg would work for auditioning. I don’t think it will.

@Jazzfan_NJ and @Martin_Kelly - here’s a photo of the ends of a Focal cable and the ends of a balanced cable I own. Is it clear, from this photo, that this balanced cable won’t work with the T5?

I think I’ll give them a shot but it would be nice to know in advance if I’ll be able to use this cable. Thanks!

The Meze Elite use mini XLR. At least things seem to be stabilizing on 4.4mm on the other end of these cables.

Yes it is quite clear that the Focal cable will NOT work with Beyerdynamic T5p or T5.
Here’s a photo showing the Focal cable flanked by two cables that do work with T5p and T5

By the way, there seems to be no difference whether the jack has two ro three “parts”.

That’s pretty conclusive. Thanks!

The Slims all work with Focal though as I did use my Meze cable until I got one specifically for it. Ended up with a Chinese cable from Amazon and it’s really nice and didn’t break the bank.

Thanks - that’s good to know.

All this talk about different cables is just one of those little problems we hobbyists don’t often like to mention.
Three drawers filled with all things headphone: cables, adapters, connectors, etc. Different lengths, single ended, 4 pin balanced, 4.4mm balanced, etc.
Plus all the cables not shown, which are presently attached to all my headphones.

Nicely organized. If you keep this up, though, you’re gonna need another drawer.

Hmmm man drawers mine are not so oranised. I have 4 plus three boxes which are more organised in my office and a large box of spaghetti in the loft.

The drawers are only organized because they are relatively new. Give them a couple of months and they will be a complete mess. At this point I do believe that if I laid all of the various cables (power, HDMI, USB, audio, headphones, etc.) that I have collected end to end that they just circle the globe

I clicked the “buy” button. It’s surprising how my listening habits have changed since getting the M11.

For me, the Aeon 2 Noire weren’t a good match for the M11P and the specific scenarios I want close back for. The T5 might be. I should know by the end of the week.

Hi @Jazzfan_NJ Thanks for the recommendation of Fog City Audio. I ordered a new cable the other day after reading your post. Just got confirmation that my new 10ft Cable for my Hifiman Arya has now been shipped and should be here in Oz in 6 days.

Looking forward to not having to use a extension cable. Quality cables seem so hard to find here. :+1:
