Hi does it compare to the M11 Plus?

It is a very nice upgrade in SQ and overall performance. I was very happy with my M11 Plus - but M23 is a very nice step or two upwards.

PS: The user interface is also much faster

Congratulations on the upgrade. May you enjoy many hours of listening pleasure.

I recently purchased a FiiO R9 desktop unit and I am only just getting familiar with its feature set and its sound. I hope to post a comprehensive review sometime in the near future.

Received my M23 last week after my dealer had stock. 1st DAP since iPOD 20 years ago. Portability has been with “dongle amp/dacs), numerous. Latest is questyle M15 with iPhone 11, sounded pretty good. The M23 brings mobile listening to a new level. Using an under $125 IEM and FOSTEX T50RP 50th Anniversary headphone with Dakoni pads, foam attenuators (wish a better cable was available, the presentation and sound quality is “really good”. Issues I have encountered are:1) loosing connection to ROON Server (occasionally), TIDAL files loading slowly. 2: Documentation says there is supposed to be a ROON mode under mode choose. It is not there. Asked the dealer to figure out and let me know (they were mystified. Very happy so far, especially if “mode” can be figured out. Right now using Android mode. Any input or suggestions appreciated.

My drop down menu does not include ROON Ready[quote=“Torben_Rick, post:1, topic:272390, full:true”]

Latest firmware installed 1.0.1. Emailed support@fiio.com. Hopefully they will respond

@hutchp Go to settings and the global. Look at the end “FiiO Roon”

Are using the FiiO Roon app to enable Roon Ready? It doesn’t have a mode like those as far as I know. You start the Roon FiiO App and then add that as a zone that’s it. If you installed Roon remote app on it ensure you disable its audio output as that will not be Roon Ready or bit perfect. You only use the audio of the FiiO Roon app.

Thanks Torben. FIIO M23 shows under audio and Device volume is set. Interesting that FIIO 11S also shows (not enabled). Have not tried ROON ARC yet on M23. Received email response from FiiO support: pretty useless.

I received a “detailed” second reply from FiiO Support. They sent a link to a
ChrystalGypsy link on another site referencing M11. After 3 weeks of use, the sound quality of M23 is great. M23 repeatedly cannot find ROON core or if song is paused for more than 5 minutes cannot find Core (Nucleus). Global setting: ROON has to be “turned on” on every start. Mode: ROON does not show (see attached screen shot from FiiO website). Tidal, whether through ROON or Tidal app continuously has issue with loading content-“tidal file is having difficulty there might be is a hardware problem” … Home Mesh Wi-Fi is ORBI 6 router with 3 satellites. iPhone 15 connects to home network 250’ from home. M23 seems to have difficulty if more than 25’ from Wi-Fi satellite. Surprisingly Amazon Music works great. Attached are screenshot and photos sent to FiiO support this morning. Unable to attach photo’s screenshot. Will try on a following post. Thanks

Uploading image/file error will not load, 1 or 5 doesn’t matter. Get’s to 93%, but this probably needs to be addressed in separate category. Thanks

Hi guys, does anybody know why my M23 still appears as the M11 Plus that I was using previously and is it possible to change that? Thanks.

Because FiiO seem to have slipped it under the radar with it advertising itself as an M11 so it works with Roon and not wait for certification. It does share anlot in common with the M11 as it is predecessor. The M23 isn’t officially certified as Roon Ready according to Roons official listings. Seems a bit naughty of FiiO probably fed up with the backlog lots of OEMS are fussing about.

Makes sense thanks! Tbh it works just fine, I’m just being over zealous
