Fire HD Display Always On

HI there, recently came back to Roon and would like to use my Fire HD 8 (12th gen) as an always on display. I’m not particularly worried if I can’t use it as a controller.

I can browse to my Roon Core’s display URL but the screen times out after the usual period (the max you can set it to in Options is 30 minutes).

Any suggestions for getting it to keep the display on? I’ve installed the Roon remote app and this works fine but again the display will time out.

Thanks for reading.

thanks @mjw that does indeed keep the display on but it’s not quite perfect. For some reason the display still dims after a few minutes (it doesn’t go off completely so the Dev Mode steps described in that post have improved the situation). I have a CCTV monitoring app that runs on the same Fire HD and that app keeps the display on and fully bright all the time - i wonder if the Roon Dev team can figure out how to make that work for the Roon App.

There’s a „keep on“ switch in Roon > Settings > Setup, IIRC.

There is already a setting for that in the Roon app. But this doesn’t help if you use Roon’s web display (a browser) instead. There either your browser has a built-in keep awake option or you can choose one of the many available apps that do that (I use Caffeinate).

aha I didn’t see the “keep screen awake” thing in Settings->Setup… trying it now…

…and I can confirm it works great, thanks @BlackJack and everyone for coming back so quick - v happy I got this working
