Formatting external USB SSD for Intel NUC running ROCK

I plan on installing ROCK on Intel NUC, the music library will be stored on a Samsung external SSD USB 3.2.
Question, what system to format this drive; FAT32. APFS, etc. what is recommended.

exFAT is the recommended format.
