From the very first BDP-1, Bryston’s digital “transports” have made great Roon Ready end points. In fact, the BDP-1 came with an offer for several months of free Roon, and that’s 14 years ago. Never have used this forum to sell off demo gear, but this piece is such a Roon natural, I thought I’d give it a try.
For sale here is our Dealer Demo BDP-3. With BNC, AES/EBU and USB digital outputs, it makes for a excellent Roon Bridge. Technical niceties include a beefy Bryston linear power supply and two separate USB busses to help electrically isolate a USB connected DAC. Retail Price of $5000, selling for $2000.
S/PDIF and AES/EBU is limited to their normal 192/24 output, and the USB connection goes all the way to DXD’s 384/32 and 2X DSD.
Note on USB connections: Early DAC’s with USB inputs may exhibit certain incompatibilties with USB sources, such as the BDP here. For example, the BDP-3 connected to an older (10 year) Levinson pre with built in DAC does not play DSD at all (PCM at all resolutions plays fine). A newer Levinson integrated with DAC works like a charm (as does our Bryston DAC’s, of course). So if you want to play DSD files and have an older DAC, do some homework. Also, if the BDP powers up and does not detect any device connected via USB, it shuts down the USB interfaces to help decrease noise even further. So make sure any USB DAC is powered before the BDP.
This unit is in excellent condition with one tiny tick ? (nick? blem?) on the top of the front face plate, above the display. I did not notice it until I put the unit under strong lights for the photos. It’s like a shiny dot? I took the best picture I could that would highlight it. See pic. Comes with all original packaging.
