FS: Naim Nait XS-2 Integrated Amplifier [SOLD]

The amp is in excellent condition, perfect working order and sounds absolutely fantastic.

I sent the amp to Naim in 2021 to replace a noisy volume control and to have a full factory service where they inspected the amp and replaced all the main power caps (and the green LED on the front fascia..)

Due to “supply chain issues” at the time, I was told that it would take 6 weeks to return the amp to me so not wanting to be without music for that long, I did some “man maths” and took the opportunity to upgrade to a Supernait 3…

When I received the XS amp back, I used it in my home office but having just retired, I’ve since re-organised my office and have switched to a more compact desktop arrangement.

For anyone not familiar with this amp, here is a review that I think describe very well the excellent and engaging sound of this amplifier. (Note: only a one-time free read is allowed by the website)

this slim, unassuming amplifier is capable of fine resolution and real fire-breathing power in equal measure, and deploys its abilities to quite scintillating effect across a wide variety of musical styles.

It’s as capable with intimate, closely recorded music as it is with works on the grand scale. What’s more, that impression of a conservative power rating is reinforced when one asks it to drive large speakers to good levels: it delivers plenty of excitement without ever sounding like it’s about to lose control.

True, there are amplifiers around, at this and other price levels, capable of delivering a more luxurious, warmer tone, but most of them do that at some cost to detail, definition and ambience; the NAIT XS, however, manages natural body and richness without ever becoming soft or muzzy, and as a result is all the more satisfying — and totally rewarding.

Output: 60W per channel into 8 ohms, 90W per channel into 4 ohms.
Inputs: 6 — 4 line in on stereo RCA phonos/DIN sockets, one powered input for use with external phono stage, front panel 3.5mm stereo input.
Outputs: Subwoofer (RCA), Tape (DIN), umbilical socket for phono stage (DIN), one pair of speaker terminals (banana only).
Other connections: Pre-amplifier output/power amplifier input, also allowing connection of external power supplies, remote control input, optional RS232 control connection accessories supplied Remote control handset.
Dimensions (WxHxD) 43.2x7x40.1cm/ 8,6 kg.

Important: This is the XS-2 model which is the original XS that then received a fascia update and should not be confused with the XS2 model which replaced the XS (and has “XS 2” on the rear label).

Note that the Naim box is from an NDX 2 which Oranges & Lemons very kindly provided when I had it serviced. I foolishly got rid of the original box and apparently a new Naim box costs £70…

Price: £620 ONO
Price includes tracked delivery to UK mainland (only).

Price has been set based on what other XS models have actually sold for on ebay and taking into account that this amp had a full factory service costing £320 only 4 years ago. I’ve not seen any other XS amps for sale where this service has been done.
