Fuzzy Search?

Hi there, it seems that the search mechanism requires me to type the exact name in order for me to find a match. Is this expected? This is with a local-only library

Not the case here with just Qobuz in play.

Although, how Regina gets me Shania Twain I don’t know. That don’t impress me much

If you want to find an artist/album/track **in ** your library, it is far better to select the corresponding view (artists, albums, tracks) and use Filter.

the plot thickens

@metadata_support any idea what’s going on?

Just normal Roon search oddities. It’s been going on for years because it’s a hyper “fuzzy” search designed to produce more results with less typing and to accommodate typos and all sorts of crap. Many hundreds of posts exist in these parts to complain about this. Roon creators probably think it’s ok to type as little as possible to get results in the search area, and the more you type, the weirder the search actually gets.

As @Dirk_De_Taey points out, using the “Filter” capability in any particular view works better for the method of searching you prefer…

I really appreciate everyone’s help here, I truly do! but I’d love to see if Roon team has an official answer to this. I find it hard to believe that this is acceptable behaviour for boutique software.

Well….Many folks appreciate this behavior, so it might not be so simple. It has evolved, to some degree, from user feedback. I’m not saying I love it. I don’t. However, it doesn’t bother me as much as others. That said, I have an all-local collection, and I’m not affected by it searching, say, Qobuz….

Hey @Jose_Albornoz, thank you for reporting this bug. It’s definitely not working here as designed, so we’ll have a look at this. I think we have enough info in order to reproduce and fix this.

The issue is in our pipeline, and we’ll keep you updated on it.
