Google TV Streamer for Casting Roon Display

Hi,

I’ve been using Google Chromecast for displaying Roon on TV. It shows up in Roon Setttings and you have to Enable it. It works fine but often I have to factory reset the Chromecast because of WiFi issues or whatnot. The new Google TV Streamer is the latest device and it features an Ethernet connection. My question has anyone tried out Google TV Streamer with Roon and does it show up in Roon settings?

Looks great! All I need to know. Thanks Marcos

Have you actually tested this though? I have a number of Google Chromecast with Google TV (the 4k versions but not the streamer) and they dont work.

They show as displays, they start casting, and within 5 minutes or so the display goes into screensaver and kicks you back to the main menu. It’s not a Roon problem, its a Google one… trying to move people way from casting and onto dedicated apps… I get similar behaviour with all forms of casting and have actually unplugged that device and gone back to an originalChromecast instead.

Good point. The other strange annoying thing is this. On Sony Smart TVs it works, but not Samsung, hence why I am using the Chromecast. I’m just hoping the Google TV Streamer will be stable.

If you have an android tablet around, search the web for “coverart android”. It’s not in the play store.

I just installed it this weekend, and it works perfectly

First time using this feature, testing for about 10 minutes, no issues so far.

Google TV works great for a Roon display. Verified user here.

I have two of them. They work flawlessly as roon displays. Flawlessly.

Thanks all for your feedback.

I bought one and confirm it works great. The only thing though is that you have to sign in to a Google account, but after that, I only use it for casting. My Smart TV has the other apps anyway but Samsung doesn’t support casting for Roon unlike Sony, for example.
