I had my eye on the H600 and was waiting for Roon Ready certification.
The H600 is still not Roon Ready, but the H400 that will launch in September is already Roon Ready …
Which probably means that Roon Ready certification for H600 will come in September, given that both amps share the same streaming engine. Only guessing…
Good thinking!
That would be great news. Then the question pivots to “is the H600 worth the extra investment over the H400”
Never buy anything on the assumption it might become something else, rather if you need Roon Ready then buy something that is already certified or just wait until the item you are looking at actually is fully Roon certified.
Sure. But he’d have to wait until September anyway in case he decides to compare the H600 with the H400. I waited until the H120 became Roon Ready and don’t regret the choice.
Probably the same “Upgrade” over the the H390 as the H600 over the H590: redesigned DAC on ESS chip basis to address the AKM DAC chip obsolescence.
And probably the same effect: the H400 target price is 6995€ and you can get the H390 for 3999€ now (and the H590 still for 5999€, instead of 11495€ for the H600).
Neeedless to say, H590 and H390 have been Roon ready for quite some time.
It seems that there’s a new firmware for H400 and H600 that enables a new control App and Roon Readiness.
