Has anyone experienced issues with vinyl from Acoustic Sounds?

Recently bought seven vinyl LPs from Acoustic Sounds. Two have lots of surface sound noise. I have double checked my tracking force and other relevant settings, and also listened to the same recordings through Qobuz. No joy. Wet cleaning, and adjusting tracking on the turntable did nothing. The digital through Qobuz is very clean in the trouble spots. They are different kinds of noise, but neither is normal in any way.

I don’t think that AS presses its own discs, and a failure rate of 2/7 could be just how things go, but it could also be a symptom of something wrong at AS. Don’t know, but wondering if anyone has had a similar experience. I’m not going to order from them again until I figure this out. I don’t really want to return vinyl, but will if I have to. Both albums were $35.

Generally most modern vinyl pressings are garbage compared to the glory days of old.

It’s not just Acoustic Sounds, I have had some issues with modern MoFi releases too. Thriller by Michael Jackson at $100 was just awful.

The QC is non existent.

Another big problem is with double or more disc releases. Many case of getting two record 1 or 2 instead of 1+2.

No fix for surface noise on those I am afraid.

Well THAT’S dispiriting. Do (or did) you send them back? Is it worth the trouble or do they just shine it on and blame the consumer?

MoFi did offer a full refund or a replacement, I was over it by then so just kept it sitting on the shelf as a bit of a reminder.

I think it’s worth at least sending AS a message and see what they say?

One good reason to stay digital !! I kept my vinyl pristine as best I could . BUT

Even in the glory days I took back 1 in 5 or 1 in 10 because of surface noise.

I don’t miss vinyl

Agreed. Even the wafer thin LPs of the 1980s are far superior. I’ve returned a handful of new pressings recently, and now avoid anything “made with recycled vinyl”.

The Acoustic Sounds releases are pressed by them at their facility in Salina, Kansas. They also sell records manufactured by others. Their releases are not pressed on recycled vinyl. I have purchased several of their releases and had few problems. When I did, they offered a replacement but you do have to return the record back to them for evaluation and processing. It takes time but they will make it right.

This is my experience too. The quality of the pressings I have from AS is excellent. With respect I don’t agree with the comment above about non-existent QC from AS.

I did have one pressing from another company that I purchased from Acoustic Sounds. I contacted them and asked for an exchange. They were very responsive and happy to do the exchange for me.

I’d suggest contacting them.
