I can’t hear any difference with any DAC filters I have tried on any of my dacs. I just leave them at the standard ones. As for Schiit I loved my Heresy 3 but just sold it on EBay as the M11 Plus has taken over all headphone activities it’s just great and transportable to any room therefore making a setup in each redundant.
discussions! Man you guys are killing me with all this fawning over the all powerful Fiio M11 Plus. I need one more night to sleep on and then I’m either going to join the party or spend the rest of my days tethered to a desktop headphone amp
You are so classy, I know everybody noticed and I’m the only one rude enough to say it. I love the tigger better then the pink panther.
There was one particular DAC filter (maybe brick wall) that just made everything on the Pro 3 sound terrible to my ears and I had accidentally enabled it.
Thankfully I found it and changed it to a better one.
But normally I would say I cannot tell the difference (or it is subtle at best) either.
Inspired by @terzinator and his cabinet by the lounge chair, I decided to post my set-up. The amp is a Lehmannaudio Linear D mkII, headphones Sennheiser HD 800S. Roon runs on a PrimeMini 5, and I use a Mutec MC-3+ as the “switch” to stereo and headphone amp. Connection via Toslink as the hearing spot is in another corner of the room.
LOL, didn’t even notice the tiger the first time reading through.
But a question, did you mean Tigger? As in “I’m tigger, t-i-double-Guh-err”. Or just a plain old tiger?
Although the matrix audio looks good and is a nice all in one, I find the headphone amp a bit dissapointing. Compared to my Chord Mojo 2 it sounds a bit lifeless… from follows function indeed.
ha ha, typo, tigger but in Romanian it is spelled with 1 g thanks
I’m guessing this is directed at me, with my tiger on the shelf?
It’s an old german Steiff tiger, probably from the 1950’s, I’m guessing. Been in the family for years.
but I’m not going to ask Amir if his Panther it is in the family
Iconic brand. Quality and passion with quite an interesting history. Founded 1880.
The real reason why the Sonoma Model One sounds better than all my other headphones and headphone amps:
Hi all. I’ve been using this combination for over a year. I find it’s very balanced and non fatiguing. I typically use this rig when spending hours working in front of the computer. What makes it really shine is playing via Roon using the crossfeed function and a convolution filter designed for the model of headphones I’m using.
iFi iDSD Signature with Grado GS1000i headphones.
Cheers.
So, I hadn’t done an update in a while, and after our last move, things are finally organized.
From Left - Dan Clark Aeon 2 Closed, SendyAudio Aiva Planar, Focal Bathys, Meze 109 Pro, HiFiMan Ananda and Sennheiser - HD-6XX
Decided to utilize a watch display/storage case for my small collection of IEMs and accessories for them. I think it works better than I was planning.
From Left - TheiAudio Monarch MKII, FiiO FH15, Raptgo Hook-X, BGVP DM7, BLON - BL-01 and KZ ZEX Pro.
Using Schiit Ragnarok 2 or the FiiO M11 Plus in this area. Also have the Topping DX7 Pro in the bedroom.
Now to the point where it sometimes takes too long to decide how I want to listen
Great idea! After seeing your photos I realized that I need something similar to store and sort all the various cables and adapters that I have for all my different headphones and headphone amps. Thanks!!
Lol…may the farce be with you!
Yeah, it works great. The foam inserts are wrapped with a soft fake leather, and they slide out to wrap the cord around. I was going to get one with 8, 10 or 12 slots to allow for future growth, but decided that I would just keep my “Top Six” here, and hang the others on another headphone stand.
What do you think of the Dan Clarks? How would you describe their sound?
I’m thinking of upgrading my headphone setup (NAD Viso HP 50 using convolution filter with my iPad 7th gen) and wonder how much of an improvement the Dan Clark Aeon RT Closed (I assume I would also need to get a headphone amp to drive these since they are much less efficient than the NAD).
The NAD Viso HP 50 (with EQ) was highly rated on ASR, as was the DCA Aeon RT Closed.
What cables do you have on the Dan Clark Aeon’s?
Have you tried others?
