HifiBerry DAC+ Light Support

I added this card (https://www.hifiberry.com/shop/boards/hifiberry-dac-light/) to a Raspberry Pi 4. Ropiee installed fine and the RoPieee portal is active. I set the HAT to “HifiBerry DAC+/DAC+ Pro/Amp2”. In Roon, I do see the RoPieee under Settings → About, but there are no devices to import/enable under Settings → Audio.

I see the DAC+ Light does NOT have “ALSA volume control” and my other RoPieee’s have cards showing ALSA. Is this card supported by RoPieee? Searching in these forums, I don’t see many discussing this card.

If it helps, I created a Feedback: 9db94e0cfcc5080b.

Thanks!

Forgot to mention that I did try the “Hifiberry DAC” and “Hifiberry DAC+ Zero” Audio HAT options as well in RoPieee. With that, I do see an item ready to enable in Roon “snd_rpi_rpi_dac / ALSA”, but once I try to enable I get a “device not found” error. Thinking this device may not have the required support for RoPieee, but if anyone is using this card would be interested.

You need to select the ‘Hifiberry DAC’ and not the ‘DAC+ …’. And indeed, it only supports software volume.

It should work, however this hardware model is rather old and Hifiberry sometimes has issues with supporting new(er) kernels.

You can configure it properly, play some audio (or at least try) and send me feedback. Maybe I get a better idea what’s going on.

Thanks Harry. I did try that but get the “Device Not Found” error. It does show up with HIFIBERRYOS64 and connects to Roon. I think you’re right, it may be a kernel issue.

I think I may return this for the standard DAC+ card.
