Describe the issue

I have an iBasso DX170 and Roon Arc installed. However, every music file is played at 48KHz. All high-resolution files are downsampled to this. I have understood that this is a limit of Android which is the OS of my iBasso DX170. If I would buy an Fiio M11 Plus (that is Roon ready and Roon tested) would high resolution files be played back on that device at their native rate? Same question if I would install Roon on an Fiio M11 Plus, does it play high-resolution files without downsampling or does 'Roon ready/tested' only means that I can install Roon, but not be able to playback high-resolution files at their original rate?

FiiO DAPs are Roon Ready and will playback Hires bit perfect. You do need to ensure you enable the FiiO Roon Ready app each time it’s powered on then any remote will see it as a Roon Ready device. Enable it as a zone in Roon and your on the way. Had mine nearly 2 years now and love it.

Important think to understand. If you install Roon Remote to control it on the device under no circumstances enable its zone which will show up as this phone as this will not be bit perfect as it uses Roons standard Android audio path which isn’t bit perfect as you have discovered on the iBasso. Only use the Roon Ready output and make sure to use the FiiO Roon app to ensure it’s running its not active all the time.

As for ARC no they won’t ever be bit perfect until Roon changes its coding decision to resample all Android content via its application. This is at the app level and not hardware or anything to do with Roon Ready.

The OP was talking about ARC, though, as far as I can tell

He also mentioned Roon Ready, I blanked out ARC.

For ARC no DAPs are bit perfect using inbuilt DACa that’s a coding choice and until Roon change it nothing can be done.

Yeah there tends to be much confusion around this
