Hohner Electric Analog Piano resurrection

A friend has recently acquired the above piano and after three days of fine tuning by our friend at REGA I was privileged to hear the authentic sounds as used by the Doors etc.

It is clear in the last pic, as the puck lifts it sticks to the reed just enough to see it in vibration for the local pick up.
If not plugged in, you can hear the reeds vibrate as you play.

They don’t make em like this anymore, but if you want that sound, this is the way to get it.

All the reeds were removed and cleaned. The air gaps are set. As for tuning, if it’s sharpe you add a drop of epoxy resin trial and error. File it down if it’s flat. I think :joy:

Think Pinging a ruler and dragging it across your school desk :joy:

Try sharing a flat with an aspiring musician who expects his mates to help him lug that and a fender rhodes, both apparently made out of solid copper, up and down flights of stairs each time he has a gig. …
Many years ago but I’m not so sure that my back ever recovered.

Yes, keyboard players after drummers, got the hard end of the nightly gig setup.
