How Audiophiles are a Low-Key Cult

(post deleted by author)

My entire post was sarcasm, hyperbole, and “playing audiophile”. I think you missed all that. But calling out “the audiophile in the room” seems to also be part of this hobby (or are we a cult now?).

We can debate cables all day long but no one is measuring test tones and finding differences with cables. Don’t worry, even I understand that. And, as you said, this is painfully true for anything on the digital side. Painful because its often a place people spend most on a cable. A bit is a bit as they say.

Sadly this is true. I do find some weird enjoyment in playing along though.

No. Because there is nothing to see on the scope. It’d be a waste of time. I’m not saying I hear anything either. I’m just agreeing with you that measurements don’t show a difference. Case closed? No, of course not, where is the fun in that?

The individual who authored this article, I suggest should spend his or her time listening to their system and enjoy the music.
That’s the singular purpose.

I found the article somewhat amusing, but I think the author of it was quite sincere.

I’m not so sure. From his bio…

He has a Masters of Arts in Psychology with a specialization in Program Evaluation and Organizational Behavior.

I suspect he’s just pushing buttons to drive traffic to his websites. It’s working.

100% think that you are right

I’m not satisfied with “low-key”.
How do we make ourselves a more resolving, high-key, end game cult?

Are you volunteering to be our wacky leader? I’m in as long as kool-aid or comets are off the table

So the object is to anger people? Enough of that going on in the political realm already! Actually, it didn’t anger me, it bored me. I skimmed but did not finish it. It says in many words what could be said in far fewer, and it stretches an analogy past the breaking point. 16 minute read indeed! That’s 16 minutes of my life I wouldn’t be able to get back.

I accidentally deleted my earlier post and can’t seem to get it back, but for my 2 cents, no, I think they author was sincere. He may also have been trying to get some clicks by the way in which the headline was written.
