How to copy RIPped CD content from USB to NAS

Hi All,

Just experimenting with my ROON NUC which has a CD player. I am able to RIP CD’s without any problems and they are nicely added to the database.

I have read somewhere that you cannot RIP directly to a NAS, but that you have to copy the files over from the ROON Storage to the NAS and then let ROON index the files there.

I have been looking on the forum but I cannot find a way to copy over the files from my NUC to the NAS? I can mount the NUC in m MAC, I can mount the NAS on my MAC so I tought I would be able to copy the files over that way. But the mounted drive on the NUC doesn’t show me the ripped CD content (or I might be overlooking it) There is a directory called ‘STORAGE’ but that has a red flag over it as it not accessible (as GUEST / GUEST from the mount).

Or is the only way to remove the USB stick every time, plug it into the NAS and copy it manually? that is bit of a cumbersome approach

Any tips or ideas are very very welcome !

Kind regards

Just my opinion here, as another user like you.

I would recommend NOT using ROCK/NUC cd ripping utility.
It has issues, see this post (there are many others saying the same thing):

I would recommend going the DBPoweramp route so that metadata is added to the rips and so that you can control the files structure. You then can copy the files to your NAS or thumb drive and your backup device of choice. If you are moving lots of files I would also disable the storage location in Roon settings/storage while moving the files so that Roon does not have issues with identify partial albums during import.

I agree with you. Best and easiest way is to do CD-Ripping on PC or MAC.

@Geert_Diels If you want to read a bit more about CD-Ripping - I wrote a manual some years back.
You can find it on my personal website, in the Blog section (available in english and german):
