I wrote a script for Plex that allows me to import a text file playlist in the format of ARTIST - TRACK, match the songs against my personal library with a fallback to grab missing tracks from Tidal, and upload the playlist to my Plex server.
Is there a way to adapt this same functionality to Roon? Has anyone done this already?
Well, within rooExtend I offer a Roon Extension called rooAIDJ which cooperates with Chat-GPT and sends a list of tracks and artists to rooAIDJ to be placed in the Roon queue. It searches the local library and Tidal/Quobuz whatever you use. There are also some videos available which show how it works.
Since some time I thought about adding a Web-Interface to import Lists of Track/Artist or Track/Artis/Album.
This seems not to be a big thing as anything to build up the queue from this information is already available in the server component of rooAIDJ.
I also thought about using the file structure delivered by the Roon playlist export. So playlists can be exported as text files and imported in a different instance of Roon.
For a DIY solution using the Roon API the basic steps would be to search the track using the browse API and then add the found track to the queue. The Roon API doesn’t support playlist creation so from this point you have to save the queue to a playlists manually.
I maintain the python roon library. It was designed to support Home Assistant, but open to extend if there are roon api calls you need that aren’t supported.
