How to use the ARC apk with Android Auto

I was having some difficulty getting ARC to appear in Android Auto on my Pixel 6 Pro when I use the apk file provided by Roon to install ARC. The apk file was really helpful due to the ongoing issues with Play Store approval. To mitigate ARC not appearing in Android Auto I opened the Android Auto settings on my phone. On the Pixel 6 Pro I went to

1. Settings → Connected Devices - Connection preferences → Android Auto
2. I then enabled developer mode in Android Auto: instructions to do so are here essentially you tap the version button at the bottom of the menu 10 times. To access the developer settings tap the 3 dots in the top right to open the overflow menu.
3. In the Developer Settings menu, check the box to enable Unknown sources

That’s it, ARC should now appear in the Customize launcher menu.

I got a new (used) car with android auto and ARC was not shown in AA.
Now it works
