I don’t like 1.8 - it feels like a massive failure

Maybe you think that Apple beta testing program that anyone can participate (and they have much more users than Roon) is absurd too?

Thanks for the summary. Nothing of this really surprises me. Professionals would withdraw release date and fix the most obvious errors. The fish starts smelling at its head. Time for some changes, maybe.

One of the “minor” bugs I’m worried about at the moment, but I suggested already maybe changing that mega-huge font of the album titles just a tiny bit…

Even more sophisticated: Dynamic Album Title font ? Maybe too sophisticated…

I have to agree. 1.8 isn’t for me and I am a lifetime sub. So disappointing.

Also the version information is truncated to the right.

I honestly thought the thread title was sarcasm

1.8 working perfectly for me (custom linux pc for core, android and windows remotes) The only issue I’ve had is Tidal being down briefly.

LOVE having portrait on Android tablets :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: Congrats ROON team :+1: :+1:

Yes,the audio. It’s so bad to delete Roon from my mac

Several of us so-called beta testers have suggested just that. Quite a few have also warned of precisely this debacle and the inevitable reactions. But there was no one there to listen.

After using a couple of days, I can said, I don’t even look at the home page at all. It is annoying with the big blue ‘recent activity’. My profile picture is now so tiny at the top right it becomes so hard to see and my name becomes so big! The icons that shows numbers of albums, tracks etc. looks terrible ugly, come on, add some nice colour to it. why purple colour? Can this be changed in the settings? The homepage is utterly a failure.
I noticed buttons are getting smaller, why make it so small when you got so much space to play around? There’s a lot empty spaces and is never utilised! I believe I’m not alone here, if there’s a way I can go back to 1.7, I will do so. Roon 1.8 UI really need some redesigned especially the homepage. For me some features are welcomed such as vertical scrolling in iPad.

No question about it, there are also satisfied users. I am happy for you that you like this version and that you are happy. Others like me are not easy to please.

On a Mac you can edit the theme colours… which suggests that Roon will be able to do this fairly easily going forward.

Turns out I should leave making themes to the adults in the room (roon?)…

UPDATE: now the settings are back in town!

The album Art ist just 1400x1400 :innocent:

He does like to criticise people who enjoy string quartets and thinks him listening to Techno and Indie Rock upsets them. But he’s never so belligerent towards manufacturers, at least not in print.

Unfortunately my wife updated everything whilst I was at work. Now I’m screwed. 1.8 is hideous to look at. That seriffed font is vile and the acres of white background is really unpleasant to look at. Coupled with my iPad not being able to display all my artwork although my Windows 10 machine can means that I LOATHE this new version. I can tell you straight that if I wasn’t a lifetime member I would be binning Roon for something else.

That’s just one more solid proof on how the reviews/reviewers work today!

If he has been asked for comment how looks new design, not how to work with on the daily basis he said the truth

I love 1.8! Its amazing especially for classical fans

I also love Roon 1.8.

Why this negative energy? Post your comments, make your voice heard but don’t exaggerate. Why such an angry tone from some?

(I mean OP making a thread with a phrase such as “Massive Failure!” seems like a bad start for someone to feel empathy enough to hear what you have to say.)

It may also mean that the statement is true.

I’m not sure if my problems are Tidal or Roon related (all my albums are missing) but I’m going to play vinyl today and wait for things to settle down.
