I have an Intel NUC running ROCK and I want to do Wake On LAN

Good day,

I have an Intel NUC that is running the ROCK software. I also have an Apple Ipad Pro. I want to use a “Wake On LAN” App that runs on my IPad so that I can Wake On LAN my Intel NUC and play my music. My NUC is connected to my router using an ethernet cable. I did some research into an app called WoLow. This app that runs on my IPad requires the “WoLow companion” application to be running on the target device (My NUC) and since that is running ROCK I don’t think Wolow will work. I know I need to set my BIOS settings so that Wake On LAN will work. Does anybody out there use a Wake On LAN app that runs on an IPad that will accomplish what I’m trying to do?

Many thanks!

Tim

The main reason for a ROCK machine is the request to have a high availability appliance running (at less than 10W) at all times.

While i appreciate all the reasons that might be eligible for shutting down when listening is finished, it is a bit like swimming upstream.

That said, i have tried the WoL way and there are dozens of apps to service the need but in the end it seemed a clunky way of replicating a simple button press, to me.

A quick view seem to point at Simple Wake On LAN, which does discovery and power management.

The other thing is that if you turn it on only for listening, it WILL do all the metadata background work when you would prefer using it for listening/browsing
