I want Roon but my wife uses AirPlay 2.
I don’t care if Roon ever implements AirPlay 2, but just want it to play nice and allow AirPlay 2 to take over like it does with all my peripherals like my Lumin U2 which I have 5 of.
Then I would use Roon when my wife was finished with AirPlay 2.
Just hang in there, Airplay 2 support is currently in beta, and will probably be released very soon now.

Not following what you require here. From what I understand your wife uses system airplay on her iOS device to play to your Lumins, from what ever app she uses correct?
You want to use Roon?
Then you can do this now. Roon uses its own streaming protocol to the devices. This doesn’t us Airplay unless you choose it. Roons airplay doesn’t send music from your iOS device only from Roon server to your audio devices. So if your wife uses Airplay this won’t change.
Roon doesn’t hand anything over to iOS to use system airplay so having Airplay 2 makes no difference to anything.
What is it exactly you are wanting to achieve. As you can use Roon now, your wife can use what ever she wants it doesn’t change anything. Both can be used to play music to your devices just not at same time.

I am not yet a Roon user
I just wanted to clarify my needs before I jumped into the Roon world.
Just needed to know it’s really that simple that she can interrupt my Roon at any given moment and play Apple Music through airplay(2) and I can come back when she is done and get back to high fidelity and that it must be “ just that easy” without a single extra step.
If that’s what’s working now maybe the previous party that mentioned it’s in beta currently to be released soon is talking about something different?
Thanks so much for your help as I’ve heard there are many others in my boat, even my dealer doesn’t know and he runs and sells Roon.
OK just did a quick test for you. I started playing something via Roon RAAT (its native protocol if you like) to my Roon Ready amp that also supports airplay. It started playing via Roon. In the middle of the song I took out my iPhone and started playing something to the amp from Apple Music. It stopped playing the Roon song and started playing the airplay song. Roon registered that its stream had interrupted and paused playing. I was able to resume the Roon song later from the point where it was interrupted. I suspect it will behave as you are hoping.
Well that’s great news thank you, only one quick question did you/could you try multi room for AirPlay “2” as it was the problem .

Need zero fuss.
No extra steps
AirPlay take over by my wife to all AirPlay devices that I use for Roon then I come in and take over said devices once again.
I haven’t bought Roon yet and will not if either one of us needs to add another step, ridiculous as it sounds it isn’t to a married couple,
