I have owned and used an Orchard Audio PecanPi streamer/DAC for several years and a PecanPi+ for a year. They are both excellent sounding devices that work great as Roon Endpoints using ROPIEE. The PecanPi+ sounds especially good with a great sound stage and lots of detail. I recently saw the new PecanPi+ Premium, which has a display, on Orchard Audio’s website. I noticed that the PecanPi+ Premium comes with an IFI Power X 9 volt power supply instead of the generic supples that came with my less expensive streamers.
I just bought an IFI Power X power supply and tried it out on both of my PecanPi streamers. In both cases, in sounded like a veil was lifted off both of my systems. It was one of those system changes that made me immediately think “this is well worth the money ($119) and is a keeper”. I purchased a second IFI Power X so both of my PecanPi’s have the upgraded power supplies and I am very pleased.
If you have a PecanPi or another RaspberryPi based streamer, it might be worth trying out an IFI Power X. At $119 this is a relatively inexpensive upgrade that can make a positive difference in the sound of your system.
