Imagine buying a car - analogy

My first car was my dad’s 1959 Chevy Bel Air–the one with the big horizontal fins. I suspect it needed an alignment–any time you wanted to turn right, you just stepped on the brake pedal. My best friend in high school had a Fiat 600, and I kept threatening to cut a big wind-up key out of plywood, paint it silver, and glue it to the back of the car. Another missed opportunity…

In the 90s my boss finally reached the middle management goal of an entry level Merc and specced an upgraded radio cassette. Very proudly showing off the new car, switched on the stereo… Speakers weren’t a standard fit …
