Implement more HQPlayer settings direct in Roon

Are dere any plans of a more extended integration with HQPlayer with Roon ?

Like be able to select filters etc ?

It hasn’t been ruled out but no plans have been announced. My perception is that both Roon and Signalyst (Jussi) feel there are greater priorities.

And really, I think that it is important to keep a strong separate line between the two, if not but for support reasons. Currently, Roon sends the signal to HQP and washes its hand of everything. Once HQP gets the incoming signal it is all HQP. If that line gets blurred , than support becomes less clear.

I would like to bring this up again, I am also hoping for some HQ settings to be implemented in Roon.
The fact that different source formats sound better with different modulators or at different frequencies could easily be used to set the pairings upfront in Roon.
Since all these parameters are available through the API, it shouldn’t be that big of a problem.

So my hope would be a small HQPlayer header in the settings, where you can establish easy connections like
“source 16/44.1 -> modulator ASDM7 / frequency DSD256”
“source DSD64 -> modulator DSD5 / frequency DSD512”

and so fourth.
This would also enable one to use the maximum possible output frequency in a given hardware context.

At least I’m hoping for an access to the HQ parameters in the audio chain field, so that they can be changed manually. Since I’m running headless, this would make life much easier.

The Alchemy SW may give you an idea how to configure a control interface for filter and dither.
Look at last page here:

I think input can be as easy as eiterh PCM* or DSD*, but you may be very creative and based on tags add sugested outputs within the limitation you set up. (You DAC limitations).

Then the HQPlayer front end with those 4 dropdown boxes is not a bad solution either.
You do not need all these settings easily accessable. My opionion is you only need the two filter/dither parameters to play with.
Other settings can be done in the setup menu and audio setup. (I’m only using iPad).

What we do not know yet, is if Roon will be allowed to implement MQA, and if Roon then think this will be sufficient enough for the majority of their useres,
I have no idea of how popular DSD are, but it seems to me new DAC’s these days all support it. But that does not have to mean most people use DSD.
But I guess most HQPlayer users actually use DSD. (My DAC only do PCM).

The Alchemy software mirrors exactly what I was hoping for, thanks for the hint.
Implementation thus can’t be that hard I guess, is there any hope for a realization in roon?
I may need to switch to Alchemy until there is a workaround…
