When you long press the pause button on the iPhone it doesn’t perform hard stop like the iPad and other remotes do.
I really need this implemented in the iPhone version as it’s the only way to get my Devialet ASIO driver to reinitialize sometimes.

Yup, I can reproduce.
It actually does work on Now Playing, just not in the main footer. We’ll get that fixed – thanks for the report @DrTone.
