Inquiry on avoiding interpolator overload distortion using Roon's Muse (ref#M74KKF)

Describe the issue

Interpolator Overload Distortion - Benchmark Media has posted about this potential source of distortion in suboptimal DACs. Since many of us might have such DACs, it would be good to know if this can be avoided by using Muse in Roon to lower the digital signal by 3.01 dB, as suggested by Benchmark.

The answer seems to come down to what processing takes place before Muse's Headroom Management. Benchmark claims that some forms of this distortion can take place in sample conversion, for example.

Hi Mike,

thank you for posting this, I have the same question. I have a Benchmark DAC1 that I use with Roon, and I am also interested to know how to avoid the “Interpolator Overload Distortion”.
