Inquiry Regarding Support for External LAN Adapter (with RTL8111E)

We are a company named Waversa Systems (https://www.waversa.com) that develops, manufactures, and sells various devices for high-end audio.

Several years ago, we released an audio-specific PCI-E LAN Adaper (WLAN-CARD). However, a customer who purchased it now wishes to use it with RoPieee in a Raspberry Pi CM4 + CM4IO board (https://www.raspberrypi.com/products/compute-module-4-io-board) environment.

It appears that RoPieee currently does not support the LAN chipset (RTL8111E) device driver used in our product. We would like to inquire if there is an intention to distribute a future RoPieee OS image that will support this.

As this is the first time I’ve got a request for this specific chipset…
No, this is not on my todo list.

In general I would say: I find it strange that this does not work out of the box. The driver for the chipset is included in RoPieee’s kernel, so I’m wondering if this wlan card ‘behaves’ like standard.

Thanks
